Trying something new...

As I take notes for a potential book on Tolkien, I want to, perhaps, make some of these notes public (or relatively so) by posting them on the blog.  These would be in the manner of Facebook posts--brief musings, connections, things that I see as I go.  The benefit of having them here rather than on Facebook is that they will be easier to find and have a unity and coherence, in all of their fragmentation.  I also hope that knowing that I have this note-taking venture declared, and presented publicly, I will maintain it.  We shall see.  This is by way of explanation for the next post, which will surely get a little weird. My plan is to create one blog post for each book that seems useful or intersting, and to update it as I move through the book.
